Why SIBT Students Choose DLC
Dunmore Lang College - SIBT students
SIBT has become a distinguished choice for International students who seek alternative entry to university studies in a supportive learning environment.
Dunmore Lang College provides a diverse academic and social learning experience to students. Most undergraduates enter Dunmore Lang College in their first year of SIBT, and continue their stay for three or four years depending on their course when they transfer to Macquarie University.
These students choose to stay because they have made firm friends and relationships within the College and realise the many benefits which college life gives to enhancing their academic progress. Dunmore Lang College welcomes all international students to make the College their home during the course of their study. Students enjoy the wide mix of students within the College community coming from different countries, cultures and backgrounds.
This experience is invaluable now and as you begin a career in a global workplace.
As an SIBT student myself, Dunmore Lang College is fun. We have different types of activities all throughout the semesters, there is drama club, sports club, we have variety of sports including soccer, softball, touch football, rugby, cricket, hockey, netball and basketball that are all contested throughout the academic year between our neighbour Robert Menzies College, and the Macquarie University Village.
I have even more fun socialising as there are so many social events like Harbour Cruises where all of us go and have fun cruising on Darling Harbour.
Throughout the year, the College invites many well distinguished guest speakers who come and share their experiences and their wisdom with us. Few of them were Professor Peter Shergold; he was elevated to Australia's highest award, the Companion in the Order of Australia (AC) in 2007 and Paralympian Tina McKenzie who captained the Australian team to a bronze medal in the Beijing Olympics last year.
Other than this the College also gives academic support to us; which is the main reason we are here. The College appoints a number of Resident Tutors to help residents. They really helped me with all my doubts and with any problems I faced with my studies before the exams. We have access to the College Library to consult journals and references, to study or to read freely for enjoyment or relaxation. Another great part about staying at Dunmore Lang College is its location. SIBT and Macquarie Shopping Centre is just five minutes walk away.
Living with other SIBT students makes a lot of difference as we can discuss our studies and help each other as most of us are studying the same course.
Dunmore Lang College is fun, friendly, like a family.
