Support for Success
The College is committed to assisting residents to achieve their academic goals. We do this in a number of ways.
Resident Tutors
Resident Tutors are usually postgraduate students or senior undergraduate students who, in most cases, have lived in the College for some time. Tutorials range from one to one assistance to group sessions and can cover the content and form of essays and reports, study skills, exam preparation and reading draft essays. Most tutorials are held in the College in the evenings although residents are always welcome to consult the tutors privately by arrangement. Emphasis is placed on first year subjects to assist students make the transition from school to university. However, tutorials in more advanced subjects are arranged in response to need.Academic Undergraduate Scholarships
The College provides scholarships to high-achieving Macquarie University undergraduates applying for residence for the first time. You will need a UAI or equivalent in the high 90s. Scholarships are valued at up to $10,000 and application forms become available in October. The College is reviewing its closing date so keep in touch.Academic Visitors/Lecturers
The College hosts a variety of academic visitors throughout the year who provide opportunities for residents to chat and share ideas. In addition the College holds an annual Dunmore Lang College Lecture at which a prominent speaker inspires and challenges residents in their academic and non-academic pursuits.Exam Suppers
During examination periods the College provides late nights suppers so that residents can take a study break, relax and chat with friends.The College is extremely proud of its students' outstanding academic success in recent years.
