Support for Success
The College is totally committed to doing all that is possible to assist residents in achieving their academic goals.
We do this in a number of ways:
1) Resident Tutors
Resident Tutors are usually postgraduate students or senior undergraduate students and often have lived in the College for some time. Most tutorials are held in the College in the evenings although residents are always welcome to consult the tutors privately by arrangement. Emphasis is placed on first year subjects to assist students in the transition from school to university. However, tutorials in more advanced subjects are arranged in response to need.
2) Academic Scholarships
Approximately 10 scholarships are available to Macquarie University enrolled students applying for residency for the first time. These are valued at up to $1000.00. The application forms become available in October with applications closing in the first week of Semester 1 each year.
3) Academic Visitors/Lecturers
The College hosts a variety of academic visitors throughout the year who provide opportunities for residents to chat and share ideas. In addition the College holds an annual lecture at which a prominent speaker inspires and challenges residents in their academic and non-academic pursuits.
4) Exam Suppers
During examination periods the College provides late nights suppers so that residents can take a study break, relax and chat with friends.
The College is extremely proud of its students' outstanding academic success in recent years.
