Ben Kitchener

Ben is an Aboriginal man of Wiradjuri and Dharawal descent, who grew up on the NSW Central Coast. He studied a Bachelor of Biodiversity and Conservation at Macquarie University, and has worked in a number of roles within the University.

He is passionate about combining western and Indigenous approaches in science and education, and has been able to apply these skills in his most recent role working with Aboriginal communities in remote Arnhem Land. As a Research Officer for the Department of Environmental Services, Ben conducted plant and animal surveys alongside local ranger groups and, as part of this programme, assisted students and citizen scientists to develop their own environmental skills.

Ben also has significant experience in conservation ecology, Indigenous land management, and Aboriginal cultural education, which has seen him collaborate with a number of private and government organisations around NSW and internationally.
