Dr. Alasdair Murrie-West

Principal of Dunmore Lang College
Dr Murrie-West joined Dunmore Lang College in 2013 bringing almost fourteen years’ experience in leading university colleges and residences in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand.
Dr Murrie-West has undergraduate degrees in Arts and Commerce, a graduate degree in Theology where he was awarded the Begg PhD Travelling Scholarship and a PhD from The University of Melbourne in the area of Bioethics. In addition to working in Residential Colleges, Dr Murrie-West has also worked in business, tertiary education and the not-for-profit sector.
Dr Murrie-West has a strong understanding of the issues and challenges facing the Residential College and higher education sectors as he has lived and worked in this area for over fifteen years. He has extensive experience in developing safe and healthy residential communities that provide the support needed to ensure university students successfully negotiate the transition from school and home to university and beyond.
As Dunmore Lang College Principal, he welcomes conversations with potential students and parents about what Dunmore Lang offers as well as actively inviting feedback and suggestions from current and past students on improvements and new initiatives for the College.
Ms Liza Allen
BA (Hons), PGDipEd, M Ed(Ed Mgmt), MACE, AIMM
Dean of Students
Liza moved from her role as Vice-Principal at Emmanuel College at the University of Queensland (UQ) to Dunmore Lang College with her husband Tony in November 2014.
Liza has significant experience in Residential Colleges having worked as Dean of Students at The Women’s College (UQ) for four years prior to being the Vice Principal at Emmanuel College (UQ) for three years.
Liza has completed a BA Honours (Chinese) at the University of Queensland after which she took up an academic appointment at UQ teaching Chinese language for nine years. She then spent a decade managing a small business before returning to UQ to complete a Post Graduate Diploma of Education and pursue a teaching career across the prep to year 12 spectrum. During this time she completed a Master of Educational Management through the University of Southern Queensland.
Apart from being bilingual (Chinese) she is also an enthusiastic potter and weaver so watch out for some interesting activities in the courtyard during the year!
