About us Our people Principal and Dean of Students Principal Dr. Alasdair Murrie-WestBA, BCA, BD(Hons), PhD(Melb) Dr Murrie-West has been Principal of Dunmore Lang College since 2013 bringing over twenty years of experience in leading University Colleges and Residences in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand. Dr Murrie-West has a BA in Politics and BCA in Management and Marketing from Victoria University, Wellington and a graduate degree in Bioethics from Otago University where he was awarded the Begg PhD Scholarship. In 2010, he completed a (mid-life ‘crisis’) PhD from The University of Melbourne exploring the end-of-life decision-making through the lens of narrative fiction. In addition to working in Residential Colleges, he has experience in marketing and business, tertiary education and the not-for-profit/for-purpose sectors. Dr Murrie-West has extensive experience in managing the issues and challenges facing the Residential College and higher education sectors. He is committed to establishing safe and inclusive communities that support students to successfully negotiate the transition from their school and home to completing a university degree and beyond.
